Mongo’s Adventure at the Fancy Food Show

On Sunday, Mongo visited the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, which was a 3 day event where thousands of food vendors got together to show off their best stuff.  By the end of the last day, Mongo was so tired!

There were so many food samples to try!  Chocolates, candies, and junk food was all over the place, calling Mongo’s name!  Mongo struggled as he had dreams of swimming in a sea of Ghirardelli Chocolate, but then he realized how sick he gets when he eats too much junk food!

Walking through the sea of junk food, Mongo stumbled into a Sweet Potato next to some crackers.  These were Sweet Potato Crackers that tasted better than the Goldfish crackers.  The company, Polkadot is working on even making a gluten free version for kids!

After this, Mongo was thirsty, so he saw some energy drinks but noticed that they were very high in sugar.  He decided to look for something fun, and found some Honest Tea Kids drinks in a pouch.  This stuff tasted great, and had all natural ingredients unlike Capri Sun!

Now, Mongo had some cravings for dairy.  He ate a little bit of cheese, and then found some yogurt.  There actually were many, many, varieties, but this one from Fage had a little compartment that allowed you to dump in as much fruit as you like.  Mongo just wanted a hint of Strawberry to his yogurt and he slowly tilted one side of the yogurt carton and a little strawberry plopped into the yogurt.  This was really fun!

After this, Mongo was thirsty again and grabbed a drink made out of Aloe.  He didn’t think he would like it so much, but with a little pineapple flavoring, he liked it a lot!

After a long day, Mongo was stuffed and decided to walk home instead of taking the train.  This was a great workout after all of that food!

On Monday, Mongo wanted some Fruits and Vegetables, but was surprised that there weren’t any fresh fruit and vegetable farmers at the show!  So he walked all through the convention hall and found some Apple Sauce in a pouch from a company called Go Go Squeez.  At first, he thought it would be yucky, but it was nice and cool in his mouth and was super easy to eat, no spoon needed!

Next he found some dried apple slices in a bag.  This was also gluten free and preservative free so he thought he would try it.  Yuck!  Mongo decided to stick to fresh apples!

Monday was a short day, and Mongo went to bed early so he can go to the event early on Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, Mongo was on a mission to find some veggies.  Well, with no luck finding anything interesting, he found some Veggie Pals fruit and veggie chews.  These were pretty tasty, but still nothing compared to Mongo’s favorite vegetable, cauliflower!

On the last day, all the food vendors were giving away so much food because they didn’t want to pack it all up again.  Mongo filled up a huge bag with goodies, but before he got home, he realized that he could never finish all of these samples.  So he decided to give the samples to his friends and some poor people.  Giving is more fun than eating it all!

Now Mongo is ready to eat some chicken and bread for dinner!  Finally, some real home cooked goodness!
