Finger Food Fridays – Crunchy Munchies!
Let’s face it, the Holidays are the hardest time to resists all those yummy crunchy munchies from sweet cookies to candies, to bars, but what can we do? To start out with, try to get your kids to consume less. You are the best example. When their sweet tooth bothers them, encourage them to eat fruits or other naturally sweetened food, like honey.
We can also substitute most ingredients when we’re baking holiday treats. For example, when the recipe calls for 1 cup chocolate morsels, try using 1/2 cup milk chocolate and 1/2 cup dark chocolate to add a little bit of calcium and antioxidants (sadly the calories are still there). Always try to use wheat or multigrain instead of white. If your kids are still trying to acquire the taste, try half and half for now. Our motto is, we want to make food fun for kids!
Come on, we all deserve a treat once in a while. So what are we waiting for?! Let’s get started!
The first recipe we want to share with you is an all time favorite! Muddy Buddies, or also called Puppy Chow. This recipe was altered by a mom in Wisconsin in hopes of making this scrumptious snack a little more guilt-free.

Here’s another recipe that you might not be so familiar with, but it seems like a great year round energy bar. This Banana-Nut Energy bar is full of flavor. Instead of regular peanut butter, try Smart Balance Rich Roast Creamy Peanut Butter.
